Our horse riding lessons at the Outlook Riding Academy in Terrigal will help you to build your skills, knowledge and confidence on the ground and in the saddle. Riders can expect a fun and safe learning experience. Lessons may be presented in an arena, a small or large paddock, or on a short ride out.
Riding lessons span for one hour, and include catching, grooming, tacking up the horse and riding. Some lessons may also include washing and feeding. We value horsemanship and horse-wisdom as much as mounted learning so riders will be provided with opportunities to learn with, from, and on the horse.
Wet Weather: Our lesson plans are creative, fun and adaptive and will continue during wet weather. Your lesson may be held in the stable or shed and may also include horse theory and wisdom.
Horse Riding Assessment
New horse riders will start their journey with an initial assessment. This is a private session for 1 hour, which allows us to evaluate the riders horse knowledge, safety awareness and riding ability. The assessment will inform their individually designed equine program.

Lessons can be provided for groups of two to four riders of similar ability. Where possible, we will match buddies of the same age, ability and interests. Group lessons are an effective way of learning through shared problem solving, and giving and receiving feedback. Group lessons are $77 per person.
Pony leads are a safe, supportive and fun way to introduce children to ponies and horses. We have a number of paddocks and a short rainforest track for leads to explore. Participants will learn the skills of awareness, safety, grooming, and horsemanship.
Children with Higher Needs
Sam has extensive teaching experience with children and adolescents affected by attentional, behavioural and emotional difficulties, both in the classroom and in the paddock. Please phone to discuss your child’s individual strengths and difficulties.
